ARTIST STATEMENT
"For me, art is a practice of embodying authenticity and being fully present in the moment. Inspired by my Buddhist beliefs, I strive to create artwork that celebrates freedom, passion, and the beauty of existence.
With every brushstroke and sculpting technique, I approach my art as a playful exploration. Much like a child absorbed in the joy of play, I let go of expectations and allow the materials to guide me. The process becomes a dance between the materials and my hands, each movement influenced by the present moment. There is no predetermined plan or design instead, I trust that the creative energy flows through me from a higher source.
Nature is my greatest muse. As a lifelong nature enthusiast, I draw from the awe-inspiring wonders of the natural world. I am captivated by the rich textures of the soil, the serene depths of clear blue water, the expansive openness of the sky, and the gentle caress of a soft breeze. In my artwork, you will find a fusion of contemporary elements intertwined with rustic, earthy aesthetics. I believe these contrasting styles harmonize beautifully, reflecting the balance and interconnectedness found in life itself.
Colors hold a special significance in my artistic expression. Each hue evokes unique emotions within me, guiding the emotional narrative of my work. I am drawn towards specific colors that evoke the feelings I wish to convey. Additionally, I infuse the practice of Metta (Pali) into each piece. Metta, meaning benevolence and love for all beings without discrimination or selfish attachment, becomes a driving force behind my creative process. With each stroke, I imbue my artwork with a heartfelt wish for the happiness and well-being of all.
Through my art, I invite viewers to join me on a journey of authenticity and presence. I hope that my creations inspire a sense of freedom and passion within others, encouraging them to embrace their true selves and celebrate the magic of each moment."-
Stephanie Paige
Bio
Stephanie Paige has been captivated by Nature her entire life. Born into an extremely creative family full of painters, writers, musicians, and craftsmen, Stephanie began experimenting with diverse art mediums at an early age. In 1988, she began painting abstracts for private collectors. Stephanie relocated to California in 1990 and found success as a freelance illustrator. In 1993 she established Paige Studio, where she began selling gallery paintings and limited editions to stores and galleries. Stephanie also designed and painted murals for commercial companies throughout the United States.
Inspired by frescoes of the Renaissance, Stephanie developed a unique method of creating large-scale abstracts by meticulously sanding, burnishing and polishing layers of marble plaster on museum quality wood panels. Stephanie's love for the coast inspired a mesmerizing, impressionistic series devoted to the ocean that is masterfully created with thick, textured acrylic on canvas. Her spectacular depictions of Nature have earned her international renown as a contemporary artist.
Stephanie's nature-inspired artwork has been published in over 50 magazines and newspapers including the New York Times, Dwell Magazine, American Art Collector and San Diego Home Garden Magazine. Stephanie's public works and commissions are in numerous public spaces including most recently Sharp Coronado Hospital where she has 14 pieces installed.
In 2008 Stephanie introduced a new collection, which reflects her personal journey into connecting to the world through meditation and presence. Letting go of the idea of perfection, cultivating gratitude, and existing in the moment have led to masterpieces that invoke the peace and harmony of our relationship with Nature. Compelling meditation circles, exhilarating landscapes, serene sunsets, and expressive ocean scenes invoke emotion and invite the viewer to introspect.
Stephanie is represented by several top galleries in the United States. Her work is collected by fine art enthusiasts around the globe.
Stephanie creates full-time in her home studio in Southern California, where she continues to hone her craft and find inspiration from the natural world.
